Back in 1990, Joe Manzella was fixing fence posts in upstate New York when his work gloves split at the seams—again. Fed up with flimsy gear that couldn’t keep pace with real work, he headed to his garage with a simple idea: make gloves that actually last. What started as one frustrated rancher solving his own problem has grown into something bigger, but the philosophy hasn’t changed. We still build every pair like it’s heading out to our own fields.
Three decades later, we’re still family-owned and still obsessed with the details that matter when your hands are your livelihood. Whether you’re stringing barbed wire at dawn, splitting wood before the storm hits, or just trying to keep your fingers warm on the morning commute, we test every design until it works as hard as you do. Our workshop in Buffalo might be bigger now, but Joe’s original bench is still there—a daily reminder that good gear starts with understanding the job.
We’ve learned that the best gloves aren’t just about tough materials or fancy features. They’re about that moment when you pull them on and forget they’re there because they just work. That’s why we still personally test every new design in real conditions—from construction sites to ski slopes to garden beds. Because if a glove can’t handle what we throw at it, it’s not leaving our shop with the Manzella name on it.

“Finally, work gloves that last more than a month on the job site. The reinforced palms on the Pro Series have survived concrete work, rebar handling.”

“Bought the thermal-lined pair for my morning barn chores. My hands stay warm even at 5am in January, and I can still grip the feed buckets without them slipping.”

“The touch-screen fingertips actually work. I don’t have to take my gloves off fifty times a day to use my phone anymore. Game changer for delivery drivers.”

Measure around the hand at the fullest part across the palm (excluding thumb) with a tape measure. The measurement in inches corresponds to the size needed. If between sizes, going up one size typically provides a more comfortable fit, especially when wearing liner gloves underneath.
Hand washing in cool water with mild detergent works best. Gently squeeze out excess water without wringing, then reshape and lay flat to air dry away from direct heat. Machine washing can damage waterproof membranes and reduce insulation effectiveness.
The conductive material on the fingertips is designed to work with most capacitive touchscreens. Performance may vary depending on screen protectors or extreme cold conditions. For best results, ensure fingertips make direct contact with the screen surface.
Waterproof models feature sealed membrane technology that prevents water penetration while allowing moisture vapor to escape. Water-resistant options have treated outer fabrics that shed light moisture but aren’t suitable for prolonged exposure to wet conditions.
With proper care, most models last 2-3 seasons of regular recreational use. Heavy daily use or work applications may reduce lifespan to one season. Signs it’s time to replace include worn fingertips, compromised waterproofing, or compressed insulation.
Yes, leather treatments and conditioners can help maintain and improve water resistance. Apply products specifically designed for outdoor leather goods, following manufacturer instructions. Regular treatment also helps prevent cracking and extends the leather’s lifespan.
